This policy explains what information telfordvice.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It's written to be short and plain, because that's the site's whole approach to things.
telfordvice.com is my personal site for my journalism, photography and commentary. It's built and maintained by Destiny Digital on my behalf. Any question about this policy or your data can go to the email address on the Contact page.
If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect the email address you provide. That's it — the signup form asks for nothing else. Your email is stored in the site's own subscriber list (you'll be asked to confirm it first), and newsletters are sent through Postmark, an email delivery service. It is used only to deliver that newsletter and manage your subscription; every email has an unsubscribe link. It isn't sold, rented or shared with anyone else.
If you comment on an article, we collect the name, email address and comment you submit, plus your IP address for spam protection. Your name and comment are published once approved; your email address and IP address are never shown. To have a comment removed, email us.
If you email us directly, we'll have whatever you choose to include in that email — your address and message content — which we use only to reply to you.
Like most websites, this one may use basic analytics (via Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics) to understand how many people visit, which pages are popular, and roughly where visitors are coming from. This data is aggregated and not used to identify you personally.
The site may use a small number of cookies for analytics, as described above. It doesn't use cookies for advertising or tracking you across other websites. You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; the site will still work without them, though anonymous visit statistics won't be recorded.
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and similar data protection laws elsewhere, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email it sends, or by contacting us directly. We'll act on any request promptly.
Newsletter email addresses are kept for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your address is removed from the mailing list. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
If this policy changes materially, the "last updated" date above will change too. Significant changes affecting the newsletter will be noted in the newsletter itself.
